Scottie Scheffler is rightly a red-hot 7/2 favourite for the 2024 Masters at Augusta after two wins and a T2 finish in his last three PGA tournaments. The New Jersey native has ended up T10 or better in seven of the eight he’s contested since the turn of the year.

Scheffler is far from a working man’s price though and with Betzone paying seven places each-way on the outright winner market, we’ve unearthed three diamonds in the rough to take him on with at odds of 20/1 or more.

In-form LIV Golf standings leader priced-up generously

LIV Golf players made a mockery of any suggestion that playing 54-hole, no-cut golf would leave them ill-prepared for major competition at last year’s Masters.

Rebels Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson finished T2 behind winner John Rahm, while fellow switcher Patrick Reed was one of a trio of players ending with a share of fourth.

This year Joaquin Niemann is the LIV form pick, with two wins, a T9 and T4 finish from five outings in the competition this year.

The Chilean has improved his ranking in each of the last three Masters, from T40 in 2021, through T35 in 2022 to T16 last year – another feather in his cap at a track where course and distance form comes to the fore time and time again.

Tip: Joaquin Niemann to win @ 22/1 (each-way seven places)

2023 ninth-placed finisher’s game has stepped up a gear in the interim

California golfer Sahith Teegala was undoubtedly one of the lesser-known players to card a top-10 finish at the 2023 Masters when outright ninth, but he returns in the kind of form to build on that superb freshman tilt.

The 27-year-old proved his Augusta antics were no flash in the pan when claiming his maiden PGA Tour title at the Fortinet Championship last September and he’s kicked on again this season.

Teegala finished outright second at the Sentry on his season return – one of four top-10 finishes in nine outings this term – and currently sits fifth in the FedEx Cup standings.

The stats back up the fact he’s playing some of the best golf on tour too. He sits fifth in the total shots gained rankings, with other commendable placings including 13th in shots gained putting and 14th in shots gained tee-to-green.

Tip: Sahith Teegala to win @ 33/1 (each-way seven places)

Augusta standing dish in heartening form after injury comeback

Another selection with some nice Augusta back form in his golf bag is Will Zalatoris, who looked a major rising star in the game prior to missing the lion’s share of the 2023 campaign after undergoing back surgery.

Zalatoris finished second on his Masters debut in 2021 and followed that up with a T6 showing 12 months later – a pair of great results that came amid a run of six finishes of T8 eight or better in the space of nine majors.

The 27-year-old hasn’t found it all plain sailing since returning to action in January with two missed cuts, a T34 and a T74 on his record, but he has produced T2 and T4 finishes at the Genesis and Arnold Palmer invitationals inside his last four starts.

Back on a track where he’s previously seemed so at home, Zalatoris is more than capable of another bold showing to out-run odds of 33/1.

Tip: Will Zalatoris to win @ 33/1 (each-way seven places)
