Do we surround monuments to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson with small monuments listing the names of blacks they owned, branding irons, muscular slaves used for breeding? I am not sure celebrating still applies to monuments erected decades and decades ago. Those who celebrated the monuments are dead decades ago.
