I also used Remo Renaissance, Remo Legacy (now, those were great sounding heads), Evans Strata and several others I forgot. I think the Skyntone is the best attempt that Remo ever offered to create a calf like drum head. It is rather thin (more like a Fiberskyn FD), but still has enough bottom end to not sound too thin.

Can anyone tell me the differences between the Remo Emperor's Coated, Vintage Coated, and Smooth White? I take it the Smooth White one is not double-coated. Also, would anyone know if one is louder than another?

I’ve been liking playing with a Remo Tone Control “O” Ring on my snare lately. I have the thin 1” ring that I got in a two pack 20 years ago. The other one it came with was wider but I lost it. I see that they still have the two pack but most stores show a picture of two 1” rings and the Remo...

The differences, to me, between a double-ply coated Remo, Aquarian or Evans head are really quite minimal. I have kits with all kinds of mix-and-match head brands.

I've started to put together a Remo set for fun. Most snares go for between $100-$200. I've never even heard of a Remo "phantom". I don't care how nice or rare it may be...and a pic shows a crack on an edge! This is ridiculous...
