To fill the entire system, I left my gas tank on. I put a few small blocks of wood wrapped in washcloths under it to keep it up off the frame about 3 inches.
I know I do not need to bleed my car brakes unless I open the system or the reservoir gets to low and causes air to get in. If there is an opening (loose fitting or cracked line), then fluid will leak out. When I bled the rear brakes on the bike, the air came from the rear caliper and not from the front.
Make sure the brake fluid reservoir is full. Pump the brake pedal until it is firm. While holding a slight pressure on it, open the bleeder screw a little and the air will escape.
