If I love my child unconditionally, I don't force them to come to dinner at my house on holiday, if they choose to refuse an open invitation, it's their choice. You can't pick who you love, the heart wants what the heart wants but in retrospect John would have been better off with Daryl or someone like her who was used to living in a goldfish bowl and could handle it. Carolyn did struggle with living in the public eye but not to the extent portrayed.
