Editoria is not the first open source, browser-based book production system that has ever been attempted, but it’s (at least to our knowledge) the first that has attempted to replicate the rigorous production editing process and workflow, which includes styling, copyediting, author review, and proofreading, in a browser-based application.
Editoria is an open-source authoring, editing, and workflow system initially developed by Coko in partnership with the Editoria community underwritten by fiscal sponsor Aspiration Tech and funded by the Mellon Foundation.
It consists of the main Editoria application, as well as the different Pubsweet components and helper libraries that the app is made of. This application is being developed by the Coko Foundation, for the University of California Press.
