The Charter Arms PITBULL has nicks or machine marks in a lot of places. There is a nick in the barrel underlug on the left side, a nick on the top of the frame toward the rear sights, the frame window has nicks on both sides top and bottom.

Review of the Charter Arms PITBULL in 9mm | The High Road

Charter Arms currently has three different mainsprings, of differing weights, depending upon the model. Green is standard, blue is lighter, and red is heavier. They are available direct from Charter, and I would avail yourself of one of those, before cutting, slicing, dicing and shimming.
