I have Imron on my boat for over 20 years and regularly used Mothers car wax----very happy with how the paint has held up.

We just got through painting our boat with Imron and I was wondering if anyone out there had any advice on maintaining a good looking shine/luster? I am thinking after every trip use water and a light wash and wax boat soap?? Is this ok?

Why awlgrip or imron instead of automotive paint? I have painted a self made "sort of radar arch -bimini top" with automotive paint ( Brand Name RM, made by BASF ) something like 10 years ago and still shining, despite being a horizontal surface and thus exposed to the sun rays all the time.
I would disagree with that statement, the thing that makes a imron job better then a awlgrip is the fact that the painter can remove all the orange peel by sanding and polishing. You can wash the boat right away with mild soap, I suggest car soaps that dont appy any wax or sealants, a good soap like Mothers Gold.
