ERIC is an online library of education research and information, sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education.
ERIC Through the Decades ERIC, the Education Resources Information Center digital library of the U.S. Department of Education, celebrated its 60th birthday in 2024. ERIC was founded in 1964 as a way for the Office of Education, the predecessor to the U.S. Department of Education, to collect and share education research.
ERIC indexes a wide variety of journal sources. The coverage of an approved journal source is determined by an examination of three to five current issues during the source review process, but may be updated at any time. Source coverage is defined as follows:
