Caldwell – 6-year-old gelding; Lucinda Russell – Caldwell hasn’t had the best year but there were signs on his most recent start at Haydock that he may be finding his form again. He didn’t really get home on bad ground but he was well there with a furlong to run and should come on for that run. He has a very good record on the all-weather from a handful of runs – he is by a proven all-weather sire in Dansili – and will be very well suited by a return to artificial surfaces. A rating of 67 is 10lb below the mark he was going close off in Class 4 handicaps last season, and he should add to his tally before the year is out.
Dance Time – 3-year-old filly; David Loughnane – it’s not often that last time out winners make it to this column, but there’s reason to believe that Dance Time is well ahead of her mark despite a 3lb rise. Having shaped well in Novice races, she was trapped wide in a hot race at Southwell most recently and looked sure to drop away in the straight, but kept on really well to lead close home. The daughter of Time Test showed a fine attitude there, and there should be plenty more to come from this lightly-raced filly this winter.
