The final day of the 2024 Glorious Goodwood meeting takes centre stage on ITV Racing this Saturday, with four of the six scheduled races coming from the Sussex track, including the Stewards’ Cup.

Jockey Callum Sheppard and trainer George Scott combined for a 17/2 (advised) Saturday winner for our ITV Racing tips at Royal Ascot with Hardwicke Stakes winner Isle of Jura and the pair have a couple of live chances in the same Victorious Racing colours at Goodwood.

ITV Racing Tips – August 3

Goodwood 1.50 – Phantom Flight to win @ 7/2

Goodwood 3.00 – River Of Stars to win @ 12/1

Goodwood 3.35 – Seven Questions to win (each-way) @ 20/1

Phantom Flight can continue to kick on following change of surroundings

The saga of Al Aasy and PHANTOM FLIGHT continues for the fifth successive race and comes just two weeks after the latter-named finally got one over on the former at the fourth time of asking.

Hostilities are renewed a fortnight on over 2f further and the odds suggest an assumption that Al Aasy will improve for what was his first run of the campaign and a return to 1m4f.

However, the listed Newbury contest in which they last met was also the first run of the season for Phantom Flight, whose first win at stakes level came on both his seasonal debut and his first run for George Scott since departing the yard of James Horton.

The Scott outfit are in flying form at the time of writing with six winners from their last 20 runners and there’s every chance their representative can unlock further improvement up in trip as he continues to feel the benefit of the new regime.

Tip: Goodwood 1.50 Phantom Flight to win (each-way) 7/2

Conditions should prove right up consistent Beckett stayer’s street

John and Thady Gosden’s Free Wind looks destined to go off favourite for the Group 2 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (3.00) and looks the logical market leader being rated 5lbs better than her strongest opposition here.

However, she’s now six runs without a win dating back to the start of last season and while those defeats all came at Group 1 or 2 level that lengthy winless streak is cause for concern at 3/1.

A chance is taken on a rival at several times the price in the shape of Ralph Beckett’s RIVER OF STARS who comes into this off the back of a listed win at Pontefract last time out.

The five-year-old will be right at home on the good-to-firm ground expected, having won two of his three outings on the going and the 1m6f trip is one that should see her to best effect. She has finished in the first three in all five of her previous runs at the distance, winning twice.

Tip: Goodwood 3.00 – River Of Stars to win (each-way) @ 12/1

Group 3 winner can step down in class to resume upward trajectory

The in-form Scott-Shepherd axis are fancied to pull off another coup in the day’s big race, the Stewards’ Cup (3.35) with the oddly overlooked three-year-old SEVEN QUESTIONS.

Not only is the son of Kodiac the highest rated horse in the race (106), but he also receives 4lbs from his elders by virtue of his tender age. That’s a decent concession for a horse that was considered good enough to contest the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out.

Admittedly Seven Questions finished 13th of 17 having been sent off at 80/1, but he’d finished a close third in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock and won the Group 3 Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on his previous two starts this term.

Such showings mark him out as a speedster that has plenty of upside given he’ll surely find further improvement as he gets used to the demands of contesting elite sprints on the sport’s big days.

He steps back down into handicap company here and, with few rivals presenting a similarly upwardly mobile profile, he can be backed to confirm what his official rating already tells us – he’s the best horse in the field.

Tip: Goodwood 3.35 Seven Questions to win (each-way) @ 20/1
