Clarets can draw blood to boost Blues wins odds at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea may be a frustratingly inconsistent outfit this season, but it remains understandable that they’re just 2/7 to beat Burnley in west London. Vincent Kompany’s visitors have lost 11 of their last 15 away games in all competitions and look nailed on for relegation.
The Blues meet them amidst one of their more convincing patches of form, having claimed five wins and three draws (one of which ended in an extra time EFL Cup Final loss) in their last eight games.
A Burnley goal in defeat looks the glaring way to eke more value out of a home win here. Their Wembley extra-time defeat against Liverpool represents their sole normal time clean sheet in 10 games, while Burnley have netted away to Arsenal, Aston Villa, Man City and Liverpool this term.
Tip: Chelsea to beat Burnley & both teams to score @ 8/5
Home wins at Anfield as commonplace as clean sheets are scarce
Liverpool are 4/11 favourites to Brighton at Anfield, as befits the team with the best home record, most home goals scored and joint-fewest home goals conceded in the Premier League this season.
However, despite this dominance on home turf they’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 games in front of the Kop and that was against Championship Southampton in the FA Cup. Sides as lowly as Norwich, Burnley and Luton have all found the back of the net during the sequence.
The Seagulls remain injury-beleaguered, with Solly March and Kaoru Mitoma out for the season, but still pose a threat thanks to exciting young attackers Evan Ferguson and Simon Adingra. Leading scorer Joao Pedro is also in contention to play some part as he returns from injury.
Tip: Liverpool to beat Brighton & both teams to score @ 13/10
Gunners in the form to claim first Etihad point since 2016
Arsenal have lost their last seven Premier League away games against Manchester City and last beat the champions in the top-flight on their own turf way back in 2010. Yet City, are far from must-bet territory at 10/11 to claim all three points.
Mikel Arteta’s side have the best away record in the division, having won nine and drawn three of their 15 EPL road assignments so far this term. They’ve also conceded just 11 times across those fixtures, three less than any other side.
There has been precious little between the sides in two meetings so far this term, with their Community Shield clash going to penalties after a 1-1 draw and Arsenal winning their first league meeting 1-0 at the Emirates.
A similarly low-scoring contest brings the 13/5-rated draw into play, but a chance is taken on adding under 2.5 goals to the mix in what is sure to be a tense and hard-fought encounter.
Many of City’s meetings with the division’s more dangerous sides have followed a similar shape. Liverpool and Chelsea shared the spoils 1-1 at the Etihad, while Pep Guardiola’s men claimed the same result at Anfield.
