The last weekend of English football before the next international break serves up a trio of good value examples of our new favourite wager – under 1.5 Total Match Goals – as we bid to follow up a good payday from the bet in last Friday’s Tranmere vs Salford game.

Weekend Football best bets

Peterborough vs Stevenage – Under 1.5 goals @ 9/4
Crewe vs Gillingham – Under 1.5 goals @ 2/1
Salford vs Wimbledon – Under 1.5 goals @ 21/10

Stevenage’s stymying leanings to tinge Battle of the ‘Boros

Peterborough’s both-teams-to-score propensities saw them entrusted with a share of the responsibilities for landing our bet of the weekend last Saturday, but it would be no surprise to see their entertaining stymied when Stevenage visit London Road.

Alex Revell’s guests have seen at least one side fail to net in each of their last eight games (seven of which came in the league), keeping five clean sheets themselves in that sequence, but also failing to bag in their last three on the road.

Under 1.5 goals in the match looks over priced on that evidence, with six of Stevenage’s last eight in all competitions having delivered one or fewer. Posh too are more than susceptible to being blanked, having been shut out on home turf by Huddersfield and Wrexham already this term and Wigan away last time out.

Tip: Peterborough vs Stevenage – Under 1.5 goals @ 9/4

Attritional afternoon for Alex overpriced with Gills in town

League Two leaders Gillingham’s 0-1 home reverse to Grimsby busted many a midweek coupon, but for under 1.5 goals backers it was more manna from heaven from
the Kentish kings of our new favourite wager.

Six of the Gills’ nine league games this term have yielded one goal or less, with their miserly rearguard playing a significant part. Grimsby’s winner was only the third goal they’ve conceded in the fourth tier in 2024/25.

They’ve also been shut out three times themselves, adding further weight to the wager and face able accomplices in Crewe. Alexandra failed to score in the first three of the eight league games they’ve played so far this season, four of which have also landed the odds for under 1.5 goals backers.

Tip: Crewe vs Gillingham – Under 1.5 goals @ 2/1

Unders value as goal-shy Salford host guests on shutout streak

News.betzone readers were advised that a bet on under 1.5 goals would add spice to Salford’s stultifying Sky-screened 0-0 draw against Tranmere last Friday and the Ammies look to be booked for more of the same this weekend.

Visitors AFC Wimbledon have seen at least one side fail to score in five of their six League Two assignments of the campaign to date, with three of the sextet seeing one goal or none netted, including their last two away assignments.

The Dons arrive at Moor Lane on the back of four successive clean sheets, which bodes well for them shutting out hosts that have notched just five times in eight league games this term and blanked in a miserable four of their last six home games in all competitions.

Tip: Salford vs Wimbledon – Under 1.5 goals @ 21/10
