Underdog unders a gift given recent Newcastle vs City renewals

Manchester City are 8/15 favourites to beat Newcastle at St James’ Park but even the team with the best away record in the Premier League have failed to win 40% of their road games so far.

That makes the away win difficult to side with against a Newcastle outfit whose injury crisis is beginning to ease and who arrive at this fixture off the back of a 3-0 derby win over Sunderland.

Instead the value may come in backing under 2.5 goals in the fixture, which is surprisingly the underdog in that market despite the bet landing in the last three meetings between the clubs. That fact that Erling Haaland is very unlikely to return from injury here bolsters confidence.

Tip: Newcastle vs Man City – Under 2.5 goals @ 6/5

Home-table topping Tangerines to blank Grecians at Bloomfield Road

Neil Critchley’s Blackpool are on the cusp of the League One playoffs due in large part to having the best home record in the third tier so it makes sense they’re just 47/100 to see off Exeter.

The Devon club have lost as many away games as any side in the division bar Carlisle while conceding the joint-most away goals and have been turned over in seven of their last nine away games in all competitions.

Backing the hosts to win to nil looks to be our route to a value bet here at 7/5. Blackpool have kept three clean sheets in their last four home games in all competitions while Exeter have failed to find the net in five of their last eight League One away games.

Tip: Blackpool to beat Exeter to nil @ 7/5

Wimbledon away record adds value to backing Wrexham victory

Wrexham have the best home record in League Two with 10 wins from 13 games at STōK Cae Ras, so the fact that they can be backed at 17/20 to overcome AFC Wimbledon speaks very highly of the visitors’ road-going capabilities.

The Dons have only lost two away games from 13 in the third tier this season, winning five and drawing six times. That success has been built on the back of solid defensive work, including seven clean sheets.

However, that particular currency has been hard to come by in Wales this term. League One Wigan are the sole side to stop Wrexham scoring at home in 19 matches across all competitions.

Phil Parkinson’s men have scored a League-One-high 41 home goals in 13 games this season, meaning they average north of three goals a game in front of their own fans and should be able to breakdown the Wimbledon defences.

That’s encouragement enough to target the 7/5 about a home win and over 2.5 goals even before you consider they’ve also conceded 21 times across those same 13 home fixtures.

Tip: Wrexham to beat AFC Wimbledon & over 2.5 goals @ 7/5
