This weekend’s EPL coupon offers Champions League qualification chasers Newcastle and Chelsea a chance to put some scoreboard pressure on Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa – all of whom will be in FA Cup action.

Newcastle host an Ipswich side for whom only victory can prolong their faint hopes of avoiding relegation, with goals seemingly guaranteed, while elsewhere Southampton are fancied to surpass the joint-record low points total they share with the Derby County side of 2007/08.

Resurgent Wolves can stamp authority over Leicester early on

Wolves extended their winning streak to five games when landing a wager for us last weekend and Vitor Pereira’s in-form outfit must be backed against doomed Leicester on that evidence.

The Molineux side are just 8/15 for victory against visitors that have lost 10 of their past 11 outings in all competitions. Better value about the hosts can be found in the HT/FT market.

Wolves have only been in front at the interval in five of their 16 home league games so far this season, but three of those first-half wins have come inside their last five home fixtures.

Leicester, meanwhile sit bottom of the top-flight first-half away standings having lost nine of their 16 first halves on the road in divisional action this season.

Tip: Wolves to win HT/FT vs Leicester @ 6/4

Saints to dump their share of Derby’s record at Fulham’s expense

Southampton’s draw with West Ham last weekend provided the cold comfort that they won’t go down with the outright worst ever Premier League points total.

Now level with Derby County’s horrific 2007/08 campaign on 11 points, the Saints have a decent chance of ditching their share of the unwanted record against a Fulham side low on motivation.

The Londoners’ prospects of Europe have faded on the back of four losses in their last five games and that imbues the 13/10 about the hosts in the double-chance betting appealing.

Southampton came close to claiming three points against a similarly unfocused Crystal Palace side two home games ago, only sharing the spoils after conceding in injury time. Having drawn 0-0 at Craven Cottage earlier in the season, they can claim at least a point again.

Tip: Southampton double chance vs Fulham @ 13/10

Back Ipswich to chip in on another goal-heavy Newcastle home game

Newcastle playing Ipswich at St James’s Park feels like a recipe for goals and the 21/20 about at least four finding the onion bag looks like value when recent form is considered.

The Magpies’ home league games have been reliably entertaining affairs in recent months with their last 10 all seeing at least three goals and six of them 10 landing over 3.5 goals bets.

Ipswich are ideal co-stars for our wager. It clicked in the reverse fixture (a 4-0 win for Newcastle at Portman Road), while it’s also landed in three of their last five outings.

Tip: Newcastle vs Ipswich over 3.5 goals @ 21/20
