Premier League: Top-half finish will be a tall order for Lilywhites

Tottenham Hotspur have been priced up at just 1/5 for a top-half finish in their first season under Thomas Frank, but the 3/1 about them finishing 11th or lower makes far more appeal.

The Dane inherits a team that finished way down in 17th last season and step up to play at least eight Champions League games after winning the Europa League.

Frank, who thrived with a settled squad amid a very well-run setup at Brentford, has very little experience of balancing the demands of European and domestic competition having never gotten past the qualifying rounds at Brondby or into Europe with the Bees.

On top of that, club captain Son Heung-Min has announced his intention to leave the club this summer and fragile creator James Maddison was stretchered off in pre-season.

Improving the team enough to finish in an increasingly congested top-half will be challenging enough. Doing so alongside getting to grips with the Champions League will be harder again.

Premier League: Back Villa for top-six repeat with easier Euro challenge

Manchester United’s presence as 9/10 sixth-favourites in the top-six finish market means there’s value to be had elsewhere. By contrast, seventh-favourites Aston Villa look a good bet at 29/20.

United won’t be burdened by European football in 2025/26 but last season offered scant evidence that Ruben Amorim was laying the foundations for a much-improved campaign this time around.

Villa, on the other hand, finished sixth last term despite juggling their domestic duties with a Champions League campaign. This season they’ll drop down a level to the Europa League, where Unai Emery can rest key players in some of the easier League Phase excursions.

Not looking likely to lose any players of note at this stage, there’s no reason they shouldn’t put up another bold top-six bid and far more reason they should do than United.

Premier League: Back Man Utd’s skipper to outgun new attacking buys

Manchester United’s summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo sit first and second in the top club EPL scorer market at 9/5 and 5/2 respectively, but the pair look worth taking on with club captain Bruno Fernandes – an 11/4 shout in the market.

Both new boys enjoyed stromg campaigns last term, bagging 15 and 20 goals respectively, but each must establish a place in Amorim’s pecking order alongside Joshua Zirkzee, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund, while the manager must settle upon a system that suits them.

Those are significant question marks when compared to the case for Fernandes who, as captain, is always likely to be one of the first names on the team sheet. He’s also never scored less than eight league goals in six seasons at Old Trafford and is first-choice penalty taker.
