Liverpool value for tight win given St-James’s-Park-effect immunity

Newcastle have been a match for anyone in front of their own fans in recent seasons and little has changed this term – with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea already beaten on Tyneside and Manchester City escaping with a draw.

Liverpool, however, have been immune to St James’s Park struggles, winning there in each of their last three visits. Given they come to town on the back of 15 wins in 16 games across all competitions there can be little scoffing at odds of 4/5 about the away win this time around.

Despite their bold showings against the division’s elite, Newcastle have been beaten to nil at home by Brighton and West Ham already this season and stand every chance of being blanked again by guests that have conceded five goals fewer than any other team in the top-flight.

Eddie Howe’s men will be no soft touch. They’ve conceded more than once in only one of their eight home games in all competitions in 2024/25 – that brings the Liverpool win & under 3.5 goals double firmly into play at a tasty 47/25.

All eight of the aforementioned Newcastle outings on Tyneside this term have rewarded under 3.5 goals backers, while seven of them also landed under 2.5 goals wagers.

Tip: Liverpool to beat Newcastle & under 3.5 goals @ 47/25

Gunners form too hot to be restrained by dour United road approach

Just as with Liverpool’s visit to Newcastle, tacking on under 3.5 goals to a win for the favourites offers a compelling route to value when Arsenal host Manchester United.

The Gunners have recaptured their mojo in no uncertain terms since captain Martin Odegaard returned from injury, bagging 13 times including back-to-back five-goal hauls against West Ham and a Sporting Lisbon side only recently deserted by new United boss Ruben Amorim.

Amorim enjoyed a 4-0 win over Everton at the weekend in his second EPL match in charge but the scoreline flattered the Reds, who were aided by some feckless Toffees defending.

United have been dour on the road in the league this season this term. They’ve conceded the joint-fewest away goals (5) with Liverpool, but only Brentford, Everton and Southampton have scored fewer on their travels (6).

Arsenal are in irrepressible form and will find a way through eventually. Once they do, it’s hard to see the Red Devils mustering too much in response.

Testing assignment should see Chelsea card collector in the book again

Over 42.5 bookings points is trading at just 8/13 when Chelsea visit Southampton in a meeting between the top two sides in the Premier League’s yellow card table.

Rather than go looking for higher alternative lines to pinpoint the value biting point, the individual player cards market has a very likeable option in the form of Marc Cucurella to be carded at 21/10. The Spainard has accumulated a team-high six cautions so far this term.

The Saints’ 18-year-old right-sided sensation Tyler Dibbling looks likely to be the Euro 2024 winner’s direct opponent having been started by Russell Martin against Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool already this term.

Dibbling has been fouled an average of 3.5 times per 90 minutes in the top flight this season – only two players have taken more punishment – suggesting Cucurella will do well to avoid the book if entrusted with keeping tabs on the youngster all evening.

Tip: Marc Cucurella (Chelsea) to be carded vs Southampton @ 21/10
