Arsenal, as big as 50/1 when the betting opened, have hardly look back following a flying start to the season, losing just one game so far in the league and being in the top two throughout. That sole loss came against Sunday’s opponents, who triumphed 3-1 at Old Trafford in September. Arsenal come here off the back of a confidence-boosting derby win against Spurs, and will have new signing Leandro Trossard available having completed his transfer from Brighton today.
United looked set for another disappointing season following a risible display at Brentford in August, a result which left the Red Devils bottom of the table. Erik ten Hag’s men have lost just twice since, however, and avenged a 6-3 defeat against Man City in their penultimate game. A sublime last minute Michael Olise equaliser on Wednesday seriously dented their title prospects, but a win here would bring them within just five points of the Gunners. Unfortunately, Casemiro, a catalyst for their improvement, is suspended having picked up a booking against Crystal Palace in the week.
Watching this game closely will be Man City, who will find themselves in the unusual position of hoping for a United win. Victory for their fiercest rivals would bring Pep Guardiola’s squad right into the title reckoning, particularly if they beat Wolves earlier in the day.
