The ultimate boom or bust horse, if you have listened to the plethora of Cheltenham preview nights over the last few weeks, you will have been told this horse is a certainty and has no chance. The truth, as it often is, is probably somewhere in the middle. Facile Vega, last year’s Champion Bumper winner, is very likely the most talented horse in this field and would have been even shorter here but for bombing out last time. That was a shocking run and, although he was found to be lame after, it’s hard to be backing a horse following an effort like that. The vibes have been good since then, however, and he couldn’t be in better hands, but he’s basically the same price now as he was before that run. Facile Vega is probably the most likely winner, but doesn’t look quite as formidable as he once did.
