AJ’s desire to dominate sure to meet resistance from durable Swede

Anthony Joshua has spoken of his desire to return to fighting in a dominant fashion as he looks to build towards a lucrative contest with Wilder in 2024. However, such statements are often easier said than done and he’s now gone the distance in four of his last six fights.

While unified world heavyweight boss Oleksandr Usyk was responsible for two of those 12 rounders, Joshua was also unable to see off the smaller and more limited Jermain Franklin two fights back.

Wallin has only lost once and that was on points to Tyson Fury, by some margin the best opponent he’s faced. In fact he came close to forcing a stoppage after opening up a grisly cut above Fury’s eye and the Gypsy King’s win looked a lot more comfortable on the cards than it did in the ring.

AJ should have the pedigree to prevail but his game and durable foe won’t be overawed and can deny him the dominant stoppage win his promoters and fans crave.

Tip: Anthony Joshua to beat Otto Wallin on points @ 6/5

Bivol rap sheet suggests value in decision victory even at short odds

Russia’s Dimitrii Bivol faces Manchester’s Lyndon Arthur in a clash of two world light heavyweight champions. In truth however, Arthur’s IBO strap is a lot more lightly regarded than the WBA Super version around Bivol’s waist.

That’s reflected in odds of 1/33 win odds about the Bivol win but while few are likely to be getting excited about such a price about one of only two men to beat Saul Alvarez, odds of 8/11 about him beating Arthur on points look generous.

The unbeaten Russian has earned the last eight of his 21 professional wins by way of unanimous decision and faces a durable opponent in ‘King Arthur’. The Mancunian has yet to fight anyone close to Bivol’s level, but has just one KO loss on his resume from 24 bouts in the paid ranks.

Tip: Dimitri Bivol to beat Lyndon Arthur on points @ 8/11

Underdog ‘Big Baby’ powerful and game enough to defuse ‘Dynamite’

Greenwich native Daniel Dubois is two 2/5 favourite to return to winning ways against American Jarrell Miller following his ninth stoppage defeat to world champion Oleksandar Usyk in August.

However, the man previously most famous for derailing Anthony Joshua’s 2019 US debut by testing positive for banned substances is a dangerous foe capable of delivering a 2/1 upset.

Like Dubois (18 of 19 wins by KO) the unbeaten American is a powerful puncher (22 of 26 wins by KO) and he will likely come in much heavier than the Londoner. Despite this he’s very much a front foot fighter that will stalk his opponent, applying pressure from the bell.

Dynamite has now been stopped twice in his career and the most recent of those stoppages against Usyk hinted that there may some fighters gifted with greater resolve under punishment. Against Miller connections will be heavy when they land.

Tip: Jarrell Miller to beat Daniel Dubois @ 2/1
