The Minnesota Vikings were the final side to falter in their attempts to keep up with the merciless pace set by two-time defending Super Bowl winners the Kansas City Chiefs when they went down 29-31 to the Detroit Rams last week.
Kevin O’Connell’s side are fancied to get right back to winning ways in week eight of the regular NFL season, but we won’t be backing the (-1.5) road favourites on the spread. Elsewhere their confident totals picks for Commanders vs Bears and Giants vs Steelers.
NFL Week 8 Predictions

Minnesota should stymy Rams to bounce back from post-bye blot
The Minnesota Vikings were the second-last team in the NFL to give up their 100% record when they slipped to a 29-31 loss against the Detroit Lions last week, following a bye in week six.
It shouldn’t take them too long to get back to winning ways as -1.5 favourites to overcome the LA Rams at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. LA have lost five of their first seven games of the regular season and have scored more than 20 points just once.
That makes the 11/10 about 21.5 total Rams points a much more attractive Thursday Night Football bet than simply backing the visitors (-1.5) to cover at a modest 4/6.
Pick: Rams under 21.5 points vs Vikings @ 11/10
Over look generous for clash of teams in surprisingly good form
The 2023 campaign was a continuation of what has been a fairly chastening few years for fans of the Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears, with the pair finishing bottom of the NFC’s North and East divisions respectively.
As such it’s difficult to begrudge either franchise the upturn in fortunes they’ve been experiencing this term. The 5-2 Commanders are top of their section, while the 4-2 Bears remain last in the East but very much in contention in a wide open division.
Picking a winner between a Chicago side on a three-win streak and adversaries that have won four of their five last won’t be easy, but making a call on the points total looks straightforward.
The Betzone traders offer up 11/10 about over 46.5 points on the alternative spread. That looks very gettable given the bet would have clicked in five of the Commanders’ seven games this season, while Chicago have chalked up 35 or more themselves in their last two outings.
Pick: Commanders vs Bears – Over 46.5 points @ 13/10
Scoreboard set for due south as bastions of the under collide
Two unimpeachable darlings of the NFL unders betting world meet for this week’s Monday Night Football fixture, with the New York Giants making the visit to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Setting the totals line will have been a case of ‘how low can you go?’ for the Betzone odds compilers, but it still feels like there’s juice even in the under 36.5 points, especially at 1/1.
The Steelers have won their last two matches 32-13 and 37-15, but those victories came against 2-5 franchises in the NY Jets and the leaky Las Vegas Raiders. The average total points of their seven matches this season remains 35.4 even after those two 45-point-plus affairs.
And then there’s the Giants – one of two sides in the NFL still to register triple figures in points scored this season despite playing seven times. Five of those matches would have landed the under 36.5 wager, while only one of them produced more than 40 points.
