Ravens’ ability to turn it on against top opposition will see them through
The Baltimore Ravens are 15/8 favourites to win the Super Bowl and 5.5-point favourites to overcome the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. Evidence that they can and will cover against the Chiefs abounds.
Exhibit A is the amount of quality teams that have already put away convincingly this season. NFC Championship contestants the Lions and the 49ers were beaten 38-6 and 33-19 respectively.
Another playoff team, the Miami Dolphins were bulldozered 56-19 as Baltimore recorded a fifth victory over divisional leaders of the campaign in week 17.
They’re in superb form having won 10 of their last 11 games with QB Lamar Jackson starting and have both the third highest-scoring regular season offence and the outright meanest regular season defence in the NFL to aid them in winning by six points or more.
Kansas lost every regular season game in which the shipped more than 21 points, including two by a margin of six or more and they gave up 24 points in their narrow divisional round win over Buffalo.
The Ravens should easily eclipse that total, punching their Super Bowl tickets in the process.
Pick: Ravens (-5.5) to cover vs Chiefs @ 6/5
Lions have the attributes to suck San Fran into another slug fest
Friends of the over the Detroit Lions delivered for readers of our NFL tips in their Divisional Round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game that yielded 51 points.
They should be backed to help push the points total at least one-point higher against the San Franciso 49ers in what is a battle between the team with the highest regular season points total in the NFL (Lions) and their closest challengers on that metric (the 49ers).
Betzone go 6/5 about over 51.5 points in this encounter – well worth a look given a massive eight of the Lions’ last 10 games have served up at least 50 points.
Detroit’s finest can be relied upon to help keep both sides of the scoreboard ticking over given they had the worst regular season points-against tally of any team to make the post season. San Fran shouldn’t need too many invitations either – only the Cowboys scored more regular season points.
