France’s Kylian Mbappe is 9/2 favourite to follow up his 2022 World Cup Golden Boot with Euro 2024 top goalscorer glory. Alongside England captain Harry Kane (5/1), the pair are well clear of third favourite Cristiano Ronaldo (12/1) in the betting.

It’s very difficult to disagree with or play down the chances of either of the leading pair ending the tournament as highest scorer, but with Betzone going four each-way places there could be more value opposing them with some big-priced picks.

Euro 2024 top goalscorer each-way plays

Romelu Lukaku (Belgium) @ 12/1

Artem Dovbyk (Ukraine) @ 40/1

Patrick Schick (Czechia) @ 50/1

Reliable international marksman bags in bunches

Romelu Lukaku comes into the tournament on the back of the best goalscoring season since his Serie-A-winning days at Inter Milan and his formidable international record and propensity for flurries of goals mark him out as a great each-way play.

Lukaku hit 21 in 47 outings across all competitions for loan club Roma in 2023/24 to illustrate his fettle – ominous news for rival defences given he top scored in qualifying with 14 goals and has now netted 85 times in 115 outings for his country.

Many of those qualifying strikes came in bursts – a hat-trick against Sweden, braces against Estonia and Austria, five against Azerbaijan. Group E foes Slovakia and Romania are both of an ilk that could fall prey to his predatory instincts.

Tip: Romelu Lukaku (Belgium) @ 12/1

La Liga top goal-scorer simply too big at 40/1

Ukraine striker Artem Dovbyk arrives at the Euros off the back of a breakout campaign at Girona, where he ended the season as La Liga top scorer with 24 goals in 39 games.

Similarly to Lukaku, Dovbyk will have the opportunity to tee off on Group E rivals Romania and Slovakia who look two of the poorer sides to reach these finals.

Their presence in his section should virtually guarantee at least one game of knockout football for the Ukrainians, further enhancing the goalscoring opportunities for the former Dnipro man (who took his national side’s penalty and could get the PK nod).

Tip: Artem Dovbyk (Ukraine) @ 40/1

Schick could reward punters with long memories

Muscle injuries blighted a good deal of the time that’s elapsed since Czech striker Patrick Schick split the top scorer honours with Cristiano Ronaldo at Euro 2021.

However, this season his fitness has held out since returning to fray properly in November, with the 28-year-old notching 13 times in 33 outings for Xabi Alonso’s brilliant Bayer Leverkusen team.

Schick was used sparingly during the campaign as Alonso shared around the starts up front and he should be one of the fresher front-line strikers at the tournament.

Having already proven himself capable of amassing a decent goal haul (five) at this tournament three years ago, his chances of doing so again seem underrated at 50/1.

Tip: Patrick Schick (Czechia) @ 50/1
