Both the Seagulls and the Germans make it back into our matchweek two best bets, but while Leverkusen are confidently backed once more, our tactics in approaching Roberto de Zerbi’s men have switched focus in favour of one of their more reliable traits.

Flying Leverkusen can reward handicap backers for the second week running
Xabi Alonso is getting a lovely tune out of his Bayer Leverkusen troops this season. Die Werkself sit top of the Bundesliga with five wins and a draw from six games, with 20 league goals netted.
They continued that fine form for readers of this column when bounding over the (-2) handicap with ease against Hacken in matchweek one and should be capable of putting daylight between themselves and Molde in Norway.
Aside from a 2-2 against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, Bayer have thrashed all their hosts to nil this season, notching a minimum of three goals in the process.
Molde are a decent side, as their 3-2 home loss to Galatasaray in Champions League qualifying can attest to, but at present Leverkusen are a far more fluent and well-oiled machine than the Turkish champions.
Tip: Bayer Leverkusen (-1) to beat Molde @ 21/20
Match week one fireworks point to another goal glut as coastal clubs clash
Marseille and Brighton were both involved in goal-heavy slugfests in matchweek one, when the British side went down 3-2 at home to AEK Athens and L’OM drew 3-3 with Ajax.
For the Seagulls this is becoming par for the course, with fixtures involving the Sussex outfit averaging 4.33 total goals per game so far this season. Eight of their nine matches in all competitions have rewarded over 3.5 goals backers, yet that can be backed at odds against here.
Roberto de Zerbi’s side should have the ideal dance partners to serve up another goal glut in Marseille, who have conceded three or more in their last three outings.
Tip: Marseille vs Brighton over 3.5 goals @ 13/10
El Submarino Amarillo will face stern resistance from draw-some Rennes
Villarreal have made a decidedly underwhelming start to the campaign, winning just twice in their first nine games across all competitions and losing three of their first four home fixtures.
A draw wouldn’t be the worst result for Jose Rojo Martin’s men as a result and fortunately for them visitors Rennes are draw specialists par excellence. Unbeaten in 12 games dating back to last season they’ve drawn five of their eight games in 2023/24.
The French side have drawn all three of their road games so far this term with scores of 1-1, 0-0 and 0-0 hinting at a ‘respect-the-point’ mentality. Against struggling hosts that feels like a recipe for shared spoils.
