Real too big to beat bewildered Blues at the Bridge

Chelsea have arguably opted for a managerial downgrade in canning Graham Potter to bring back first-stint failure Frank Lampard and can be readily taken on for the visit of Real Madrid.
The Blues are on a six-game winless run in all competitions and have now lost three of their last four outings, with Conor Gallagher’s deflected opener in the 1-2 home loss to Brighton the only goal they’ve scored in five games.

Brighton are in superb shape right now, but it’s highly likely that anything they can do, a Los Blancos outfit replete with Ballon d’Or holder Karim Benzema, past winner Luka Modric and potential future recipient Vinicius Junior, can do better.

Toothless Chelsea must go after the game and that should leave them at the mercy of counter attacks from the Champions League’s canniest campaigners, who have beaten Liverpool 5-2 and Barcelona 4-0 in their last two knockout away games.

Tip: Real Madrid to beat Chelsea @ 7/5

Milan may have cracked the code for neutralising Napoli

The Rossoneri have played the previously all but unstoppable Azzurri twice since the beginning of April, beating them to nil on both occasions and hinting that Stefano Pioli may have come up with an effective way to nullify the Serie A winners in waiting.

As such it’s a surprise to see them odds-against to avoid defeat at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Napoli’s top goalscorer Victor Osimhen is training again and should be fit to play some part, but he will return to a side seemingly still reeling from being stuffed 4-0 by Milan in his absence.

Since that result they’ve gained just one win in three games, with that 2-1 success away to Lecce coming courtesy of an own goal. Luciano Spalletti’s side were held to a goalless draw at home by third-bottom Verona last time out too – hardly the kind of rousing result they needed.

Tip: AC Milan to win or draw (double chance) vs Napoli @ 11/10

Expectation-exceeding Belgians inexplicably big to bounce Bayer

Future pub quiz question Union St Gilloise have been on a beano in this year’s Europa League and have to be value to progress against Leverkusen after holding them to a 1-1 first-leg draw in a close game in Germany.

Les Unionistes bashed up Union Berlin 3-0 at their makeshift European night home, the Constant Van Den Stock Stadium, in the previous round of this competition and that opposition are third in the Bundesliga, eight points above Xabi Alonso’s side.

Based in Brussels, the trip to Anderlecht’s stadium will be a short one for St Gilloise fans who have seen their side beat nine of their last 10 visitors.

Tip: Union St Gilloise to win the tie vs Bayer Leverkusen @ 11/8
