Honeysuckle

Race: Mares’ Hurdle

Whether you think Honeysuckle should be running here or defending her Champion Hurdle crown, she will bring the house down if she wins. Now a 9-year-old, two defeats in two races this season have seen her air of invincibility vanish. With that said, both of her runs this season have been fine. She travelled best in the Hatton’s Grace on her seasonal debut and ran into a top horse last time out in the Irish Champion Hurdle, but boxed on nicely enough into second. It’s hard to imagine any of these opponents would have fared any better, but it’s also possible that this great mare is on the decline. Overall, with several improvers in the field, racing fans might be denied the fairytale they are hoping for.

Verdict: Beatable
